Vascular Lab

The Vascular Lab at Desert Vascular Specialists is one of just a few IAC accredited vascular laboratories in the State of Arizona. IAC accreditation is voluntary in Arizona, and signifies the highest level achievement in standards for quality, safety and accountability in vascular testing. Our providers and vascular sonographers use this lab to perform various types of non-invasive diagnostic vascular ultrasounds. Having a lab of this caliber on-site also enables patients to undergo vascular lab testing quickly and efficiently.

We offer the following types of diagnostic ultrasounds:

Carotid/Vertebral/ Subclavian Color Duplex: A Carotid Duplex scan is an ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to detect and monitor diseases of the major arteries in the neck (such as carotid artery stenosis).

Upper and Lower Extremity Arterial Physiological Testing/ Ankle Brachial Index (ABI): The ABI is a test that is useful in evaluating the circulation in your legs. This test is performed by measuring the blood pressure in your ankles and arms.

Upper and Lower Extremity Native Artery Duplex: An Arterial duplex scan is an ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to detect and monitor diseases (such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and aneurysms), of the upper and lower extremities in the native arteries.

Lower Extremity Graft Color Duplex: A graft duplex scan is an ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to image post-surgical grafts (such as peripheral artery bypass grafts and abdominal endoluminal grafts) to monitor patency of the graft and also to detect any presence of blockages or occlusions.

Upper and Lower Extremity Venous Duplex: A venous duplex scan is a type of ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to evaluate the venous system of the the upper and lower extremities to detect and monitor conditions such as Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT), and venous insufficiency.

Aorta/Iliac Color Duplex: An aorta/iliac color duplex scan is a type of ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to detect and monitor conditions in the abdomen and pelvic areas (such as abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and of iliac stenosis).

Renal Artery Color Duplex: A renal artery color duplex scan is a type of ultrasound that utilizes duplex ultrasound technology to monitor the size and condition of the renal arteries and can also be used to detect conditions such as renal stenosis.
